Here are a three photos taken for a 26 week black and white project. Basically it's a year long project where every two weeks I take a black and white photo for a specific theme. You can see the first three themes here.  In these four of the series I have been using minimal lighting in order to simplify and accentuate the subject. During the winter months getting out to shoot can take more than a bit of discipline.  I find that staying indoors is much better for me since I do not like to be cold.  So I recently grabbed my camera, tripod, an LED light, some flowers and my "thrifty-fifty" and macro extension tubes.    These were all shot on a table with an overhead light accented with a small LED flashlight.   Tiny Petal Click for a larger view A Bee's View Click for a larger view Inside The Bloom Click for a larger view

It has been a while since I have talked about music. So today I'll give a few thoughts on an album I picked up in October. Raven Quinn’s second album, “Not In Vain” has been out since October 7 th .   I bought it when it was released and just now getting around to sharing my thoughts.   On this album the songwriting is even stronger than on Quinn’s debut.   The songs have a mix of rock, goth, alternative and even bluesy riffs and pop hooks.   All of this is put together seamlessly and has a very refreshing sound yet plays familiar genres and styles.   The songwriting and arrangements are made even stronger with the lyrics that are easily recognizable and have a depth to them that too often is missing in some music today.   Raven’s voice is simply fantastic.   She has a very good range and knows when to use it to make the song stronger without showing off.    I don’t know if the vocal strength I am hearing on this album is due to m...
