Busy with updating lately

It has been a while since I have sat down to update the blog with much more than some photos.  One of the biggest things I have been working on has been the website update.  I have moved  the hosting to a new provider and the site seems to load faster and have a quicker response time.  The look has been greatly updated and there is some tweaking to be done to get all the pages to have the same look and feel.  I had to put the site up before everything had the same layout because my old hosting plan was expiring and I didn’t want to pay for two host.  The new layout is a template style and since I really can’t get under the hood it will save me time but I need to go back and realign things to give all the pages beyond the front page the same layout.  I should have that done soon enough. You can see the new site here . From feedback I have gotten the new site is easier to navigate and find the information you are looking for.  That makes me happy...

First Friday Downtown Sioux Falls

Tomorrow is the first Friday of March so what does that mean?  Downtown Sioux Falls will be celebrating First Friday. First Friday is an all-day event for shopping, art and entertainment. On March 4,  Sticks and Steel will be participating in the First Friday and has graciously opened a space in the store to allow me to display a sampling of my photography.  I got the call from the Sioux Falls Art council on Tuesday saying they had an opportunity for me to display some of my work if I was interested.  Well of course I was.  It was a happy sort of a shock to get the call and I still feel kind of giddy.  I will be setting things up tomorrow afternoon and will be present from 6 - 9pm.  Sticks and Steel is located in the 8th & Railroad building.    There will be artist at various locations downtown Friday evening.  If you have a chance come downtown for the evening.  If you do stop by Sticks and Steel and say hello.

Progress

The new Fine Art store is up and running.  This gives you the option to purchase a print, add mounting or framing in a variety of sizes.  This lets you customize your print to fit in any decor.  All orders will be shipped directly to you and are still printed from the same lab I have been using all along.  You get the same quality prints with more options. The new store option makes proofing galleries easier as well.   Now when you have your session the proof gallery is easier to find and easy to share with friends and family.  This will also allow proof galleries to be password protected so only you and your family can view the gallery. Recently Pictage & Rangefinder opened up a contest to allow photographers to showcase their passion for photography & lighting. It has been decided to make a change and all photos are now up for a public vote. The winning photo will be a combination of the public vote &  the favorite of the judges.  Check it out here and vote for your 10 favorites. (Yes I do have a photo there so if it is a favorite cast your vote). Working & Updating On Saturday

I finally updated my site and got the look and feel I wanted. I actually started this a few months back but other priorities kept this on the back burner. The new site layout is easier to read and navigate.  It also works much better on mobile devices.  I did stay away from flash so all of you with an iPhone, iPad or any phone without flash you should be able to view the site with no issues.  You can check it out here. The only thing to do is launch the new fine art store. That will be coming soon. It will be easier to order with more options than before.  That's all for now.
