Raven Quinn A New Voice Of Rock
Things have been a little crazy and I haven't been blogging much the last couple of months. Upon my return I want to introduce you to Raven Quinn, a 26 year old singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, CA. Raven has a killer voice that can easily move from all out rock to soft and dreamy like ballads without ever sounding forced.
I do find it hard to believe I have not written about this talented artist yet. Last year she put out her self titled album. Musically it is an interesting, diverse and cohesive piece of work. The tracks range from all out goth inspired rockers like Stella Jane and the leading track of the disk Decadence to introspective softer songs like The Window to the full on ballad of Lotus. Each track has it own depth and sound with a distenctive mood. Listening to the album feels like walking through the good, bad, tough, happy, light and darkness of Quinn's mind and emotions. Being able to put that much emotional impact in each song is quite an accomplishment.
Raven had George Lynch; who you may remember from Dokken, Lynch Mob, & Souls of We on guitar & Josh Freese who worked with Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle & Poe on drums. The album was produced by Dan Brodbeck a Juno award winning producer. These individuals helped to give the album a professional and finished yet edgy sound. You can even download a couple of her songs for the Rock Band games. I believe Quinn will be around for a long time and I am excited to hear what she does on her next release.
I highly recommened checking this one out. You can find out more at ravenquinn.com. You can purchase the album from Amazon & iTunes. If you would like to listen to the full album check out Spotify, you can listen to thousands of full albums.
